    Level 1
    Award in preparing to work in Adult Social Care

    This qualification was developed in partnership with industry experts within Health and Social Care and will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in the sector.
    Qualification goals

    You will develop an awareness of Adult Social Care and the values and principles which underpin this sector and how to communicate in the field. Your understanding of the skills and attitudes necessary to work in this sector, the roles and the responsibilities.

    Qualification content

    The qualification consists of 5 mandatory units:

    • Unit 01

    Introduction to the adult social care sector

    (1 credit)

    • Unit 02

    Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care

    (1 credit)

    • Unit 03

    Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care

    (1 credit)

    • Unit 04

    Awareness of communication in adult social care

    (2 credits)

    • Unit 05

    Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the adult social care worker

    (1 credit)

    Level 2
    Certificate in preparing to work in Adult Social Care

    This qualification was developed in partnership with industry experts within Health and Social Care and will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in the sector.
    Qualification goal

    This unit introduces the importance of communication in adult social care settings, and ways to overcome barriers to meet individual needs and preferences in communication.

    • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings

    • Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings

    • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care

    • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

    • Understand the role of the social care worker

    • Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings

    • Understand health and safety in social care settings

    • Understand how to handle information in social care settings

    Who is this qualification for?

    There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification. However, learners might find it useful if they have already completed a Level 1 qualification.

    This qualification is suitable for learners aged pre-16 and above.

    Level 3
    Certificate in preparing to work in Adult Social Care

    This qualification was developed in partnership with industry experts within Health and Social Care and will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in the sector.
    Qualification goal

    Yo will understand communication, handling information, and health and social care within adult social care settings. You’ll also understand the role of the social care worker and person-centered approaches.

    You will develop your knowledge of diversity, equality and inclusion, safeguarding and protection, and how to implement a duty of care.

    This qualification consists of 9 mandatory units:

    • Unit 01

    Principles of communication in adult social care settings

    • Unit 02

    Principles of personal development in adult social care settings

    (2 credits)

    • Unit 03

    Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings
