    Certificate in creative media

    Aim and objectives of the qualification

    These qualifications aim to:

    • develop further technical skills and knowledge in social media

    • develop learners’ collaborative working and entrepreneurial awareness.

    The objectives of these qualifications are to help learners progress onto a Level 3 qualification in Creative Media or other related qualifications, with a view to progressing into higher education or employment.

    Essential skills

    While completing these qualifications, learners may develop the knowledge, understanding and essential skills employers look for in employees.

    These range from familiar ‘key skills’ such as team working, independent learning and problem solving, to more trickyto-measure skills such as:

    • an appreciation for appropriate behaviour and dress

    • appropriate interpersonal skills

    • communicating with professional colleagues/peers and/or hierarchical seniors

    • supporting other aspiring employees

    • personal manners and deportment

    • understanding work practices and how different roles and departments function within an organisation.

    Entry guidance

    These qualifications are designed for learners who wish to develop advanced technical skills and knowledge in Creative Media and specialise in Social Media.

    There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for these qualifications. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

    Qualification content

    To be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Media, learners are required to successfully complete 1 core unit and 3 optional units.

    These qualifications consist of 2 graded core units:

    • Unit 01

    Understanding the creative media industry (8 credits)

    • Unit 02

    Plan and produce work to a design brief (8 credits)

    And 6 graded optional units:

    • Unit 03

    Safety in social media (8 credits)

    • Unit 04

    Introduction to social media channels (8 credits)

    • Unit 05

    Branding for social media (8 credits)

    • Unit 06

    Communicating tone of voice for an organisation (8 credits)

    • Unit 07

    Manage social media groups and pages (8 credits)
